  1. A hit-and-run crash in Glen Cove left a woman seriously injured. At around 10:50 a.m. on Saturday a dark-colored SUV struck a 40-year-old victim crossing Pearsall Avenue just west of Walnut Road. Police are investigating. (Daily Voice)
  2. Lisa Federici, an art teacher at Wellington C. Mepham High School in Bellmore, was named the 2021 Regional Art Educator of the Year by the New York State Art Teachers Association for Nassau County. She's spent her whole career in Bellmore-Merrick. (LI Herald)
  3. Two Wellington C. Mepham High School students competed in an all-girls wrestling tournament called β€œQueen of the Mat” in Copiague. Yianna Foufas and Talia Robles are the first students from Mepham to compete in an all-female wrestling event. (LI Herald)

  • The Heide Family Holiday Display, located at 2509 Yale Place, is back and the homeowners are raising money and collecting donations for the Freeport-based Bobbi and The Strays Animal Rescue. (LI Herald)
  • The Merrick-based Long Island Clean Air, Water and Soil advocacy group met at this month's Hempstead Town meeting, calling for the board to appoint three people to the South Nassau Water Authority board. The deadline for the appointments is Feb. 1, 2022. (LI Herald)
