Kids Get Opportunity To Sit On Santa's Lap In Merrick

"Operation Santa" takes place at three Merrick schools on Dec. 17.

MERRICK, NY — It's not Christmas until Santa makes an appearance.

Mr. Claus is coming to Merrick for the annual Operation Santa.

The holiday festivity takes place on Sat., Dec. 17.

Join Santa as he travels through town on his sled (even minus snow on the ground) while escorted by fire trucks.

Kris Kringle will make three stops, where children will get the chance to sit on Santa's lap.

He'll visit Old Mill Road School at 1 p.m.; Park Avenue School at 2 p.m. and Merrick Avenue Middle at 2:45 p.m.

The seasonal event is organized by the North Merrick Fire Department.
