Merrick School Flag Fundraiser Tops $10,000
The flags will remain at Merrick Avenue Middle School until early December.
MERRICK, NY — Merrick Avenue Middle School raised more than $10,000 for the annual Flag Field of Honor.
Flags were installed along the school's front lawn on Saturday. The effort was led by student volunteers, school clubs, teachers, administrators, veterans, local elected officials and community members.
"We are fortunate to continue to be the beneficiaries of this beautiful tribute to veterans and be part of this day," Principal Katelyn Dunn said.

This year’s initiative raised $1,000 each for Honor Flight Long Island and the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
The flags will be on display in front of the Merrick Avenue building through the first
week of December.
