Merrick's Own Lindsay Lohan Recalls 'Mean Girls' Moment On H.S. Return
She co-starred in the 2004 hit film, written by Tina Fey.

MERRICK, NY — Actress Lindsay Lohan, who grew up in Merrick, is telling her own version of dealing with "mean girls."
Lohan, who attended Calhoun High School at the time of the "Mean Girls" release in 2004, catapulting her to stardom, said that upon her return to school:
"I wanted to, like, be on [the] cheerleading [squad] and be normal. And there were girls on [the] kickline [team] and one of them tripped me when I was walking in the hallway, and girls were pretty mean to me, so that's why I had to just [leave]," she said on "Cosmopolitan" magazine's online series "The Breakdown."

She didn't know the impact "Mean Girls," also starring up-and-coming actresses Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert and Amanda Seyfried, would have on the public.

"I don't think we knew what 'Mean Girls' was while we were doing it. No. We were just a bunch of kids making a movie. So you never really know what to expect. Maybe [screenwriter] Tina Fey had an idea because her writing was so on point," Lohan said.
