NY 14th Assembly District: Incumbent McDonough Faces Ginsberg

A former political intern looks to upset McDonough, the veteran Republican Assemblyman.

MERRICK, NY — David McDonough has been a constant for voters in Merrick and the surrounding communities since winning a special election in 2002. McDonough initially represented the 19th District, but since 2013 the Republican has been in the 14th District.

Two years ago, McDonough won re-election by 20 points. He was recently assigned to five committees including Veterans' Affairs and Transporation.

This year, McDonough, 85, faces a 27-year-old, who has never won elected office.

The Democrat on the ballot is Dustin Ginsberg. The Merrick native graduated from Kennedy High School in 2013.

Ginsberg was a political science major at the University of Alabama.

He interned for Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Senator Chuck Schumer, plus the New York State Supreme Court. Additionally, Ginsberg has experience working on various campaigns at all levels, his bio said.
