Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck In Merrick: Police

He had been laying in the right lane of Sunrise Highway early Saturday, Nassau police said.

MERRICK, NY — A pedestrian laying on the ground in Merrick was struck by a car and killed early Saturday morning, Nassau police said.

A 19-year-old woman was traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway, near the intersection of Fox Boulevard, in her black 2020 BMW, when she struck an unknown male pedestrian who was laying on the ground in the right lane at around 12:14 a.m., according to police.

He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said, adding that the woman remained at the scene.
