Police: Roosevelt Robber Arrested for Stealing Wallet, Cell Phone from BP Gas Station Patron
Police say David Wheeler stole the victim's cell phone and wallet, fled on foot and, after an altercation, punched the victim in the face.

A Roosevelt man was arrested Tuesday and will face arraignment for a robbery at a gas station in October.
According to a press release by Nassau County police, David Wheeler, 28, was arrested Jan. 4 for stealing the wallet and cell phone of a 43-year-old BP gas station patron.
Detectives said in the release that at 1:30 a.m. Oct. 3, the victim exited BP Gas Station, located at 533 Nassau Road in Roosevelt, and observed a black male exiting his car with his wallet and cell phone, then fleeing on foot.

The victim then followed the suspect into Quick Stop Deli, located at 528 Nassau Road, and an altercation ensued in which the suspect punched the victim in the face, the release stated.
The subject then simulated that he had a gun inside his sweat shirt pocket, threatened to shoot the victim and fled the scene in an unknown direction, according to the release.

A subsequent investigation led to Wheeler’s arrest in Roosevelt.
Wheeler is charged with first degree robbery and will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead Jan. 5.
