Nassau Man Drives Drunk With Baby In Vehicle: Police
Luis Monge Saldivar faces charges that include aggravated DWI and resisting arrest, police say.
ROOSEVELT, NY — A man was arrested over the weekend after drunken driving with a baby in the vehicle, police said.
On Saturday night, officers observed a 2004 Chevrolet in Roosevelt on John Street near Whitehouse Avenue, failing to stay in the lane, police said.
A traffic stop was initiated. When officers approached, they saw the driver holding a five-month-old baby, authorities said.

An investigation at the scene found the driver, Luis Monge Saldivar, 25, of Roosevelt, to be intoxicated. When officers attempted to place him into custody, he resisted, but was arrested moments later without further incident, police said.
The child was released to a family member.

Saldivar is charged with aggravated DWI - child passenger less than 16, DWI, endangering the welfare of a child and resisting arrest, police said.
He was scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
