  1. A man was killed after being hit by two cars in Freeport Wednesday night and one of the drivers fled. The 32-year-old man was crossing Henry Street at 6:20 p.m. when he was hit by a SUV. While he was lying in the street, he was hit by a sedan that was also heading south, and that driver fled and is being sought by police. (Patch)
  2. A Calhoun High senior, 17-year-old Samantha Horowitz has spent three years performing as the sole vocalist in the production of a musical documentary, “Second Chance,” based on her mother's battle with cancer. Tara Notrica has mast cell disease, and her daughter wrote 11 original songs for the film. (LI Herald)
  3. On Friday, minimum wage workers in Westchester, Suffolk, and Nassau counties making minimum wage started getting $15 per hour. New York City has been at that benchmark for three years. (Daily Voice)
