Six Years In Making, Repairs To Merrick Schools Move Forward
The district plans to address "unacceptable and incomplete" work from a previous contractor.
MERRICK, NY — Major repairs and renovations within the Merrick Union Free School District were approved by voters more than six years ago.
The district recently negotiated a contract with a bonding company to finish "unacceptable and incomplete" work from a previous contractor, the district said on its website.
The remaining work at Lakeside Elementary School includes painting and installing new glass.

Once Lakeside projects are finished, the focus will move to Birch Elementary, where smoke doors will get properly installed during spring break.
