South Merrick Neighborhood Watch Appoints New Director

Paul Vista, a Merrick native and seven-year Army veteran, will take on the role.

Paul Vista, a Merrick native and seven-year Army veteran, has been appointed the new director of the South Merrick Neighborhood Watch.

"I wanted to get involved in the community and I think that crime has gone up in this area," Vista said.

Jon Baker, president of the South Merrick Community Civic Association, said that Vista was the best choice.

"I am very impressed with him and I think he will build the program to what it should be," he said. "I think that everyone should be involved in the program."

Vista said that he plans to do his very best in his new position.

"I hope to fill it to the best of my ability," he said. "I want to get many people involved as soon as possible and have them aware of what's going on around them."
