Special Election Tuesday To Fill County Legislative Seat

Voters will decide who succeeds Steve Rhodes, who won as a state senator in the fall.

MINEOLA, NY — Tuesday is Election Day for voters in Nassau County's 19th Legislative District. The special election was called for after Steve Rhodes defeated Democrat John Brooks in November's state senate race.

The district covers a chunk of the South Shore from Freeport to Seaford.

The candidates are Democrat Robert Miles, a former attorney for the county's Department of Assessment. Miles is currently the Minority Caucus Counsel.

He'll face Merrick's Michael Giangregorio, who has the backing of the county's top police union —the PBA.

Giangregorio, the Republican, has over 30 years of experience in the financial industry.
