1 Dead In Fatal Lloyd Crash

Police said one of the cars crossed over the double yellow lane into the center turning lane.

LLOYD, NY — An Ulster County man was killed in a two-car crash Tuesday in the town of Lloyd.

The New York State Police said the crash occurred on Route 299 shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday.

A preliminary investigation found that a 1997 Toyota Corolla driven by Alfredo Gomes, 59, of Lloyd, was traveling west on Route 299 when it was in a collision with a 2021 Volvo going east.

The Volvo was driven by Ashley Guerrero, 35, of the city of Poughkeepsie.

Police said her car approached the intersection at Park Lane when Gomes's car crossed over the double yellow line and traveled through the center turning lane.

It hit the Volvo head-on causing the Volvo to roll over.

Guerrero was taken to Vassar Brothers Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Gomes was taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

Authorities said this in an ongoing investigation.
