1 Killed In Wappinger Car Rollover

Police said the car left the roadway for unknown reasons.

WAPPINGER, NY — A Dutchess County resident was killed after a car rolled over and crashed in the town of Wappinger.

The New York State Police were sent to River Road North around 7:30 p.m. Saturday for a rollover crash where someone was ejected.

Troopers employed lifesaving techniques until Empress Ambulance Emergency Medical Services arrived and took Ravyn N. Vargas, 40, of Wappinger, to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital.

Authorities said Vargas was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The preliminary investigation found Vargas was driving a 2013 Lexus north on River Road North and went off the road for unknown reasons.

The car struck a guiderail and tree before turning over.

Vargas was ejected from the car during the crash.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
