2 Gang Members Arrested With Illegal Drugs, Weapons: NYSP

Police said the men had two handguns, brass knuckles and cocaine.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Two New Yorkers were accused of having illegal weapons, including firearms and brass knuckles, and drugs after being stopped for a traffic violation in the city of Poughkeepsie.

The New York State Police said, around 11:15 p.m. Thursday, troopers and officers from the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department stopped a 2020 Dodge Ram 2500 on South Grand Avenue in Poughkeepsie.

Police said they found that Jesse M. Davis, 40, of Binghamton, and Matthew A. Cascioli, 27, of Kingston, prospective members of a known gang engaging in criminal activity, illegally had possession of a Smith & Wesson Model 36, .38 Special, a Glock Model 27, .40 caliber, two pairs of brass knuckles, one high-capacity firearm magazine and about 0.8 grams of cocaine.

Both men were charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a firearm, all felonies, and unlawful possession of a large ammunition feeding device, a misdemeanor.

Davis was also charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon with a prior conviction, a felony.

They were both arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court.

Davis was sent to the Dutchess County Jail without bail. Cascioli was sent to the jail in lieu of $40,000 bail, $80,000 partially secured bond or $100,000 bond.

Both men are scheduled to reappear in the court May 11.
