2 Women Shot Monday Night In Poughkeepsie

Their injuries were not considered life-threatening, and neither woman was willing to cooperate with police.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Two women were shot Monday night in the city of Poughkeepsie, and police said they are not cooperating.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Monday, police received reports of shots fired in the area of Winnikee Avenue and Harrison Street.

Responding officers found 12 9mm shell casings in the area of 48 Harrison St., with the house at that address being struck multiple times. No one was reported injured, police said.

While investigating that scene, officers heard shots fired in the area of King Street Park. There was also a report of a fight in the park.

A short time later, MidHudson Regional Hospital called to report two gunshot victims — both women, ages 20 and 21 — who arrived at the hospital by private car.

Both women had gunshot wounds to their left legs. The wounds were not considered life threatening and both are expected to live, police said.

The car they got to the hospital in had four bullet holes in it.

Police said neither woman would cooperate with authorities.

The investigation into both incidents continues, and police said they believe there were multiple witnesses to what happened in Kings Street Park. All had either fled prior to police arriving or were not willing to cooperate with police.
