AG James, Kingston Police Hold Gun Buy Back Event
The Ulster County Sheriff's Office is also participating and will even come and pick up your gun.
KINGSTON, NY — The office of New York Attorney General Letitia James is hosting a community gun buyback program and gun safe giveaway in collaboration with the Kingston Police Department and the Ulster County Sheriff's Office.
It will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at Andy Murphy Midtown Neighborhood Center, 467 Broadway in Kingston.
Pick up by the Ulster County Sheriff's Office can be arranged by calling 845-802-7960.

- Assault rifle: $300
- Handgun: $150
- Rifle or shotgun: $75
- Non-working or antique gun: $25
Payments will be made by prepaid gift card at the site.
An additional $150 Walmart gift card will be given out for a good condition, working semi-automatic handgun 9mm or large caliber. An additional $100 Walmart gift card will be given for a good condition working assault rifle. Both are subject to availability on a first-come, first-served basis.

To receive a free gun safe, you must display a valid pistol permit. The limit is one per household — subject to availability.
Guns must be unloaded and placed in a plastic bag, a paper bag or a box. To transport a gun, it must be unloaded and in the trunk in a plastic bag, paper bag or box.
Anyone can surrender as many firearms as they wish. No identification is required; this is an amnesty program. No questions will be asked.
Licensed gun dealers and active or retired law enforcement officers are not eligible to participate in this program.
