Woman Dies After Falling Into Fishkill Creek In Beacon

BEACON, NY — A 42-year-old Beacon woman died after she fell down an embankment of Fishkill Creek Tuesday.

The City of Beacon Police Department said, around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, Beacon police, along with fire and emergency medical personnel, responded to the area of 50 Leonard St. for a woman who had fallen into Fishkill Creek.

City of Beacon Fire Department personnel found the woman who was unconscious and unresponsive.

Authorities said lifesaving efforts were started, and the woman was taken to a local hospital where she died of her injuries.

An investigation confirmed an initial report that the woman accidentally fell backward while having her picture taken.

Police said no further information will be released on the woman’s identity pending notification to extended family.
