Delgado To Be Sworn In As Lieutenant Governor

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Monday when the congressman from the mid-Hudson Valley will take office.

NEW YORK — The Empire State's newest lieutenant governor will be sworn in Wednesday.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Monday that Rep. Antonio Delgado will take the oath for the state's second-highest office.

When Delgado resigns from Congress, Hochul will issue a proclamation declaring a special election that will align with the recently set August primary election date.

She said Delgado is a public servant with a record of getting things done for New Yorkers.

"I look forward to working together on critical issues including education, affordable housing, economic development and infrastructure," Hochul said, "and his experience in Washington will make him a key liaison to our Congressional Delegation."

Delgado said it was an honor to serve in Congress and is ready to work for the entire state of New York.

"I am more than ready to step into this role as Lieutenant Governor," he said, "and work tirelessly, every day, to improve the lives of New Yorkers."

Delgado grew up in Schenectady and now lives in Rhinebeck with his wife, Lacey, and their twin 8-year-old sons, Maxwell and Coltrane. He is in his second term as a congressman for the 19th Congressional District.
