Highway Super, Fire Chief Faces Felony Child Assault Charges
The man was arrested after a grand jury indicted him

WURTSBORO, NY — A town highway superintendent and fire chief was accused of sexually assaulting a child.
The New York State Police said Robert Hufcut, 55, of Wurtsboro, who is the Mamakating highway superintendent and chief of the Summitville Fire Department, was arrested Tuesday after an Orange County grand jury voted to indict him.
Police said he was charged with predatory sexual assault against a child and course of sexual conduct against a child, both felonies.

An investigation over several months was conducted by the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigations, which was ultimately presented to the grand jury.
Hufcut was arraigned in Orange County Court and sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail or $150,000 bond.

Patch reached out to Mamakating Supervisor Michael Robbins who said he had no comment at this time.
