Kingston Man Tries To Kill Someone During Dispute: PD

Authorities said the man also shot up a local business and a private home.

KINGSTON, NY — A 20-year-old Kingston man was accused of trying to kill someone Wednesday during a dispute.

The City of Kingston Police Department said Antoine D. Leonard, 20, of Kingston, was charged Tuesday with attempted murder, first-degree assault, second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of reckless endangerment.

He was arraigned in the Kingston City Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail on $50,000 bail, $100,000 secured bond or $150,000 unsecured bond.

Police said, around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Leonard was involved in a dispute with a 29-year-old man. During the dispute, Leonard fired multiple rounds from a handgun, several of which struck the victim.

He also struck a local business with many customers inside and a private home occupied by a family at the time.

Leonard fled from the scene, and the victim was taken by private car to the hospital. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his lower extremities. The man was treated for his injuries and was released a few days later, police said.

The Kingston police were assisted by the New York State Police, Ulster County District Attorney's Office, Ulster County Sheriff's Office, Town of Ulster Police Department and other agencies.
