PA Woman Admits Selling Crystal Meth In Hudson Valley

Under the plea agreement, the district attorney said he will recommend a sentence of seven to 14 years in state prison.

GOSHEN, NY — A Pennsylvania woman admitted conspiring to sell crystal meth in the town of Port Jervis.

Orange County District Attorney Ashley Evans, 33, of Hallstead, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty Monday in Orange County court to one count of second-degree conspiracy and one count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies.

Under the plea agreement, the DA's office said it would recommend Evans serve an aggregate sentence of seven to 18 years in state prison and two years post-release supervision when she is sentenced June 13.

Prosecutors said a five-month joint investigation by the Orange County Drug Task Force and the City of Port Jervis Police Department uncovered the illegal possession and sales of firearms and methamphetamine occurring primarily in Western Orange County.

Police said Evans sold a total of 275 grams of methamphetamine, commonly known as crystal meth, and that she had an additional 200 grams of it.

In court, she admitted to participating in a conspiracy to sell meth in and around Port Jervis and possessing a large quantity of it with the intent to sell it.

Hoovler said the cooperation of skilled law enforcement investigators serves to disrupt the trafficking of narcotics.

"Together, our partners in law enforcement can stem the tide of drugs and help to prevent the needless cycle of addiction and death that follows in the wake," he said.
