Saugerties Man Killed In 2-Vehicle Crash

Police said the man's car crossed over into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons.

CATSKILL, NY — An Ulster County man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday in Greene County.

The New York State Police said the crash occurred around 4 p.m. Friday on Route 9W in the town of Catskill.

A preliminary investigation found that a 2003 Nissan Sentra, being driven by Michael J. Bigler Jr., 20, from Saugerties, was traveling south on Route 9W when for unknown reasons his car crossed over into the northbound lane and struck a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck head on.

Bigler was declared dead at the scene.

James Osbourne, 77, of Catskill, who was driving the pickup, and his passenger were taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by Catskill Fire and Ambulance.
