Severe Weather Possible In Mid-Hudson Valley

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for most of the mid-Hudson Valley Monday.

MID-HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Parts of the mid-Hudson Valley could experience severe weather Monday.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Columbia, Dutchess, Ulster and Sullivan counties.

The watch is in effect until 8 p.m. Monday.

Meteorologists said there is a chance of thunderstorms, mainly for the afternoon and evening hours, with a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms for most of eastern New York.

The main threat with any thunderstorms will be the potential for damaging wind gusts.

Additionally, locally heavy downpours will be possible with any thunderstorms Monday afternoon and evening.

Minor flooding of urban, poor drainage and low-lying areas is possible, and isolated flash flooding cannot be ruled out.
