Shrestha Ahead In Dem Primary Against Incumbent Cahill In AD 103
The political newcomer received 51 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results.

KINGSTON, NY — Sarahana Shrestha appears to have bested incumbent Assemblyman Kevin Cahill to be the Democratic candidate for Assembly District 103, according to unofficial results with all election districts reporting.
Shrestha received 51 percent of the vote to Cahill's 47.5 percent, the state Board of Elections website said.
Sarahana Shrestha, a political newcomer and first-generation immigrant, will be on the ballot in November on the Working Families Party line.

If the vote is certified, Shrestha will be facing Patrick Sheehan in November. Sheehan will be appearing on the Republican and Conservative party lines.
The 103rd Assembly District is comprised of the towns of Red Hook and Rhinebeck in Dutchess County and parts of Ulster County.
