Ulster Man Accused Of Forging Checks, Stealing Money
Police said the man used checks belonging to someone who had died.

ELLENVILLE, NY — A Clintondale man was accused of forging checks and stealing from someone else's bank account.
The New York State Police said Thomas Mann, 36, of Clintondale, was charged with eight counts of second-degree forgery, eight counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument and one count of third-degree grand larceny, all felonies.
State police said they were notified March 10 of a possible fraud case involving a checking account of a dead person.

An investigation found that Mann located checks of the deceased and began to use them, police said.
He then used the checks to pay bills and for his own personal use, according to authorities.

Police said Mann defrauded the bank of $4,518.
He was arraigned in the Town of Rochester Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail. A preliminary hearing will be decided by the Village of Ellenville Court.
