Woman Bites Trooper, Damages Patrol Car While Being Arrested: NYSP

The 43-year-old woman was impaired by drugs, police said.

ULSTER, NY — An Ulster County woman was accused of biting a state trooper and damaging the patrol vehicle while the trooper was trying to arrest her.

The New York State Police said, around 9:45 p.m. Thursday, a trooper from the Kingston barracks saw a 2010 Saab going west on Washington Avenue in the town of Ulster in violation of the state vehicle and traffic law.

Once the vehicle had stopped, police said Niccole Lignowski, 43, of Marbletown, was identified as the driver and it was determined she was impaired by drugs.

An attempt was made to place her under arrest, police said, but Lignowski resisted and became combative.

She bit the trooper on the arm causing a cut, police said.

Lignowski was eventually taken into custody, according to authorities, but once inside the trooper's vehicle, she began kicking the front windshield fracturing it.

Police said she also damaged the front passenger door.

A search of Lignowski and her car found her to be in possession of cocaine, authorities said.

She was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, all felonies, and resisting arrest, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, DWAI drugs and obstruction of governmental administration, misdemeanors.

Lignowski was released on an appearance ticket.
