HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — The arrival of cold weather heralds the start of ramen season in New York — and a few neighborhood spots have cracked a list of the best noodle soup bowls in the city.

A newly updated list by Eater NY names two Hell's Kitchen spots, plus three Midtown restaurants, in its compilation of the 29 best bowls of ramen in New York City — all of which Eater's senior critic Robert Sietsema promises will "chase away the chill."

Most of the restaurants have been included on past versions of Eater's list, but two are new additions as of last week. Here's each one.

Hell's Kitchen

  • Totto Ramen (464 West 51st St.): Eater recommends the chicken paitan ramen at this "intimate noodle parlor," which first opened in 2010.
  • Kung Fu Little Steamed Buns Ramen (811 Eighth Ave.): Despite the "facetious name and touristy location," Eater recommends the spicy beef broth at this Theater District joint, which is a new addition to the list.

Midtown

  • Tonchin (13 West 36th St.): The smoked dashi ramen is the highlight of this restaurant "on the edge of Koreatown," Eater says.
  • Momosan (342 Lexington Ave.): Momosan is led by Masaharu Morimoto of "Iron Chef." The best option is the tan tan noodles, which "offers a spicy, porky, sesame-laced broth further inflected with scallions and cilantro," according to Eater.
  • Nonono (118 Madison Ave.): Despite its focus on other Japanese dishes like yakitori, Eater raves about the shio paitan ramen and its "soothing" chicken broth.
