CityMD Closing 2 Midtown Clinics Amid Staff Shortages
The popular COVID-testing spot is closing two Midtown clinics due to staffing issues, but other nearby sites will remain open.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — CityMD is temporarily closing two of its Midtown urgent-care clinics amid staffing shortages as the omicron variant of COVID-19 continues to spread, the company announced Tuesday.
The clinics on Second Avenue and East 50th Street and West 39th Street and Broadway both closed starting Wednesday along with 11 other CityMD locations across the five boroughs.
The chain has become heavily used for its free COVID-19 tests, with demand growing in recent weeks as cases rise across the city. Closing these locations was a necessary step to "preserve our ability to staff our sites," CityMD said, saying the step would help stave off more closures as the omicron surge continues.

Other clinics remain open nearby, like the East 37th Street CityMD on Third Avenue and the West 29th Street clinic on Seventh Avenue.
Besides CityMD, of course, New Yorkers have many other options for getting a free COVID test, including dozens of Midtown spots listed on the city's official map.

No date was given for when the clinics would reopen. The full list can be found here.
To preserve our ability to staff sites, we’re temporarily closing some locations. We’re taking this step now to avoid future closures. With 150 locations, we’re hopeful any patients affected should still have access to a CityMD location. https://t.co/ZX4E9jYHxB pic.twitter.com/XVdaAL2zsq
