Creep Rubs 9-Year-Old's Thigh On Midtown Subway, Police Say

The man fled the train when the boy's sister tried to get help from the train's conductor. He was arrested a day later.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A man who rubbed the thigh of a 9-year-old boy on a train traveling through Midtown Manhattan is facing criminal charges, police said.

Fredy Estevez-Paez, 41, was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual abuse, forcible touching and acting in a manner injurious to a child, police said.

A 9-year-old boy was riding a southbound A train with his sister on Monday when Estevez-Paez sat next to him, leaned toward the child and rubbed his thigh, police said. The creepy behavior continued at least three more times until the boy's 20-year-old sister caught Estevez-Paez in the act, police said.

The sister attempted to flag down an MTA employee for help when the train stopped at the 14th Street and Eighth Avenue station, police said. When the train's conductor became aware of the situation, the Brooklyn man fled the train, police said.
