Cruise Ship Crashes Into NYC Pier, FDNY Says

Nobody was injured during the crash, but the pier did suffer structural damage.

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — A cruise ship crashed into a Hell's Kitchen pier Tuesday morning while docking, an FDNY spokesman said.

The crash occurred at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal at 12th Avenue and West 54th Street around 6:30 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said. The ship bumped into the pier while docking and caused structural damage to the pier, the spokesman said.

People on board the ship were evacuated and nobody suffered any injuries, an FDNY spokesman said.

The city Department of Buildings responded to the scene to inspect the damage to the pier, an FDNY spokesman said. The investigation is ongoing, a DOB spokesman said.
