Demolition Complete At Site Of New Midtown Office Tower: Report
The corner of East 48th Street and Madison Avenue is getting crowded, with a 40-story Midtown East tower coming in, according to reports.

MIDTOWN, NY — Demolition has finished at the site of a new, 40-story commercial office building in Midtown East, according to reports.
The ambition project at 415 Madison Ave., which comes at a time when most workers are still not opting for the Midtown office scene, is designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and will top out at 605 feet with a total of over 340,000 square feet of office space, reports New York YIMBY.
As part of the project, a 19,600-square-foot underground space in the building will be used for an East Side Access LIRR concourse.

A nearly 70-year-old, 24-story office building at the site had to be demolished first, a process that began last summer, according to the popular development website.
Renderings show a white facade with large square glass windows spanning two floors, with small spotted setbacks that allow for some landscaped outdoor space.

Just across East 48th Street sits the new JP Morgan Chase 1,388-foot supertall headquarters at 270 Park Avenue. Just last month, New York YIMBY reported that the curtain wall panels were beginning to be installed at the site.
Once the two projects are complete, workers might need to take the LIRR just to see the sun.
