Duo Shops At Saks After Robbing Midtown, Chelsea Tourists: NYPD

The men are connected to three separate robberies at Midtown hotels since November.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify two men wanted in connection with robberies at three Manhattan hotels since November, police said.

The two men are accused of knocking on hotel room doors and then barging inside once inhabitants come to answer, police said. The robberies occurred at a hotel in Chelsea and two hotels in Midtown Manhattan, police said.

Robbers physically assaulted one of their victims and threatened to kill the other two, police said.

Here's a summary of the alleged robbers' crimes:

  • On Nov. 13 the two men knocked on a door of the Hayden Hotel in Chelsea and pushed their way inside as the hotel guest opened the door. The men threatened to kill the hotel guest and stole his credit cards before leaving the room, police said.
  • On the night of Dec. 5 the two men pushed their way into a hotel room in the Gotham Hotel on East 46th Street, police said. The robbers assaulted the hotel guest and removed a Rolex watch from his body before fleeing the scene, police said.
  • On Feb. 9 the robbers knocked on a Roosevelt Hotel room door and pushed their way inside, police said. The robbers threatened to kill a hotel guest and stole $600 in cash, credit cards and a watch before fleeing the room, police said.

Police released a photo of two suspects that was taken by a security camera in a Saks Fifth Avenue store following the Feb. 9 robbery. Both men are described as being in their 20s or 30s and standing between 5-foot-8 and 6-feet-tall.
