Fifth Avenue Apple Store Infested With Bedbugs, Report Says
Workers at Apple's flagship retail store are being forced to put their belongings in plastic bags.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Employees at Apple's flagship Fifth Avenue location have had to contend with a bedbug infestation at the store, all while the tech giant has stayed quiet about the presence of pests at the highly-trafficked location, according to reports.
The first sight of the pests at the store occurred nearly one month ago when a bedbug was spotted crawling across a display table on the store's second floor, a store employee told the New York Post. The worker, who spoke anonymously, told the Post that bugs were spotted again on several instances in the following weeks despite reassurances from management.
The situation came to a head last week when a bedbug was spotted in a manager's office and employees were forced to place their belongings in plastic bags, employees told the Post.

"I shouldn’t have to go to work feeling unsafe and unprotected," an Apple store worker told the newspaper anonymously.
Apple's Fifth Avenue store, located near East 58th Street, opened in 2006. The store, marked by its iconic glass cube entrance, is currently undergoing renovations and a temporary location is open directly behind the store.

The renovation project is part of Apple's retail transformation from "stores" to "town halls." The new retail spaces will feature more meeting spaces, a revamped technical support area and a "forum" for events and tech classes.
