Hell's Kitchen Pier Deemed Unsafe For Art Show: Report
The Armory international art show will be moved from Pier 92 to nearby Pier 90, resulting in the cancellation of a different show.

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — A Hell's Kitchen pier that doubles as an event space was deemed unsafe to host an upcoming art show, forcing the event to relocate to a neighboring pier, according to reports.
Inspectors from the city Economic Development Corporation declared Pier 92 — located on the banks of the Hudson River near West 52nd Street — structurally unsound just about a week before it was set to host the Armory Show, the New York Times reported.
The Armory Show will be moving its exhibits over to neighboring Pier 90, and will run a shuttle for its guests between Pier 90 and Pier 94, where the rest of the show will take place as originally planned, the Times reported.

"Unfortunately, this situation is beyond our control," Nicole Berry, the executive director of the Armory Show told the Times in a statement. "Our chief priority is the safety of the exhibitors, visitors and artworks exhibited."
The move to Pier 90 will force another art show to scrap its event. The Volta art fair, a sister show to the Armory Show, does not have enough time to plan an alternative site, its organizers told the Times.

Exhibitors signed up to participate in the Volta show will be reimbursed, organizers told the Times.
"It takes a good six months to plan for a fair at minimum," Amanda Coulson, Volta’s artistic director, told the Times. "Eleven days is just not enough time to produce another fair."
