Man Randomly Stabbed, Beaten By Group In Hell's Kitchen
A group of seven men randomly beat and stabbed a 62-year-old man on a Hell's Kitchen street, leaving him in critical condition, police said.
HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — A group of men randomly beat and stabbed a man on a Hell's Kitchen street early Wednesday morning, police said.
The assault happened around 5:37 a.m. Wednesday in front of 315 West 44th St.: in front of the famed Birdland Jazz Club, between Eighth and Ninth avenues.
Video released by police shows the victim, a 62-year-old man, walking under a set of scaffolding when an unidentified person runs up from behind and hits him in the back of the head with a long, pipe-like object.

As the man collapses to the ground, another half dozen men run up and join the fray. The man was stabbed and slash multiple times before the group fled on foot, police said.
The man was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition with stab and slash wounds to the body, head and nose, police said. He was later stabilized.

Police shared footage of the assault, as well as surveillance images showing the men shortly before the assault.
