Man Shot At Times Square Subway Station: Police

A man was shot in the leg at the Times Square-42nd Street subway station Monday afternoon, prompting a large emergency response.

The incident unfolded around 12:20 p.m. near the corner of West 40th Street and Seventh Avenue, at the 1-2-3 station. The victim was shot once in the leg and was expected to survive, police said.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A man was shot Monday afternoon at the Times Square-42nd Street subway station, police said.

The incident unfolded around 12:20 p.m. near the corner of West 40th Street and Seventh Avenue, at the 1-2-3 station. The victim was shot once in the right leg and was rushed to Bellevue Hospital. He was expected to survive, police said.

It was not immediately clear whether the shooting happened above or below ground, police said.

The NYPD's Transit bureau tweeted that "numerous emergency personnel" were at the scene, with officers investigating both above- and below-ground.

There were no immediate reports of subway delays.
