A 32-year-old man was stabbed to death in an unprovoked attack early Sunday, as he reportedly slept on a train arriving at 34th Street.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A man was stabbed to death on a subway train in Midtown early Sunday in what authorities believe was an unprovoked attack, police said.

The attack happened around 12:17 a.m., as a northbound 2 train pulled into the 34th Street-Penn Station stop.

The victim, a 32-year-old man, was reportedly sleeping on the train when another man stabbed him in the neck without provocation.

Police found the victim with a stab wound to the neck. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The suspect fled the station in an unknown direction, police said.

Police have made no arrests, but shared surveillance photos showing a suspect. They described him as a man with a dark complexion, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a medium build, last seen wearing a white baseball hat, a black face mask, a gray jacket, a white shirt with an orange and black checkered hood, black pants, and black shoes.
