Midtown Pizzeria Worker Stabbed Breaking Up Fight, Police Say

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a woman accused of stabbing an employee of a Midtown Manhattan pizzeria after he attempted to break up a fight, police said.

The woman was arguing with another customer at Carve Cafe Pizza on Eighth Avenue and West 45th Street on Monday night when the 61-year-old employee attempted to intervene, police said. The peacemaking effort was thwarted when the woman stabbed the worker in the abdomen with an unknown object and fled the pizzeria with a man, police said.

The worker was treated at Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, police said.

Police described the suspect as a woman with a light complexion who was last seen wearing blue jeans, dark waist length jacket and black and orange sneakers. The NYPD released a photo of the suspect (seen above) captured on a security camera.
