SEE IT: $250M Penthouse In Midtown Skyscraper Would Break NYC Record

See inside the Billionaire's Row penthouse that could rank as the priciest apartment ever sold in New York City.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A quarter of a billion dollars: it could buy you a tunnel between Brooklyn and Staten Island, 10 years of Alex Rodriguez in the prime of his baseball career — or, newly, a penthouse apartment in a Billionaire's Row skyscraper.

The penthouse at 217 West 57th St., better known as the supertall Central Park Tower, has been listed for $250 million, brokers announced. If sold at that price, it would break the city's record for a home sale price, topping the $238 million condo at nearby 220 Central Park South, sold to billionaire Ken Griffin in 2019.

The penthouse has already set its own record: at 1,416 feet above the ground on its topmost floor, it is the highest residence in the world, according to brokers SERHANT.

Spanning 17,545 square feet, the triplex apartment contains seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a ballroom with 27-foot ceilings, a "grand salon" living room, and, of course, floor-to-ceiling windows with unimaginable city views.

From the terrace on the penthouse's top floor, one can see the curvature of the earth with the naked eye, brokers say.

"The Penthouse truly epitomizes bespoke living and has rightfully earned its moniker as the most spectacular jewel of New York," said broker Ryan Serhant.

Standing 1,550 feet tall, Central Park Tower was completed in 2020 by Extell Development — the company credited with kickstarting the Billionaire's Row series of supertall luxury towers.

The penthouse is the largest of Central Park Tower's 179 units, and ranks as the largest condominium available for sale now in New York City, brokers say.
