MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The NYPD investigated a suspicious package and bomb threat Wednesday morning at the Midtown building that houses Gov. Andrew Cuomo's New York City offices, an NYPD spokesman said.

Officers arrived at 633 Third Ave. — located between East 40th and 41st streets — around 9:30 a.m. to secure the area, an NYPD spokesman said. The NYPD deemed the package non-hazardous and are investigating the phoned-in bomb threat, a department spokesman said.

A spokesperson for Gov. Cuomo told Patch that the threat targeted the Swiss Consulate, which occupied the 30th floor in the office tower.

"A bomb threat was made to the Swiss Consulate on the 30th Floor of 633 3rd Avenue this morning. At this time, there is no indication of any threat made to the Governor’s Office and the building has been given the all clear. We thank the State Police and NYPD for their swift, coordinated response," Cuomo spokeswoman Hazel Crampton-Hays said in a statement.

A person who works in the building posted a photo on Twitter of the scene in the building's lobby as others waited for police to declare the scene safe. Police let people back inside the building around 10:30 a.m., the person said on Twitter.
