UPDATED: Torrential Rain Soaks Midtown And Central Park

How much rain did the city get? A lot.

MIDTOWN, NY – More than 2 inches of rain fell in Midtown Manhattan as of about 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Nearby, Central Park recorded 2.62 inches.

Though significant, these totals don't approach record-breaking levels. On Sept. 23, 1882, Central Park recorded an unbelievable 8.28 inches of rain.

The NWS had forecast 3 to 5 inches of precipitation from the storms as of Tuesday, and a flood watch is in effect until 12 p.m. on Wednesday.

Nearby, the storms delivered massive amounts of rain to the Bronx, where Fordham had more than 5 inches of rain as of about 11 p.m. on Tuesday night. So did New Jersey, where Bogota recorded 5.47 inches.
