Front Line Fighters: Profiles Of Coronavirus Local Heroes
Today's coronavirus hero is a CNA with a young family of his own who is working closely with COVID-19 patients.

ROCKY POINT, NY — As Long Islanders practice social distancing and make personal sacrifices as part of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, many look to those on the front lines as inspiration. Patch will be highlighting Long Islanders who are going above and beyond in their work and community to help during the COVID-19 health crisis.
Lauren Sampler nominated Avren Parker from Rocky Point as her local hero. He works as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue. Besides working hands-on with COVID-19 patients as a floater in the hospital, Sampler says he is also "an amazing stepdad to four kids."
CNAs are known for doing many hands-on elements of patient care and their work during the coronavirus is no exception. Sampler's nomination shows the work doesn't go unappreciated.
