Police Seeking Help to Find Man Who Stole Pocketbook

Police are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate a man who stole a pocketbook containing cash in Miller Place last month.

While a woman was in a coffee shop, police say the man pictured above let the air out of her car’s tire in the parking lot of a shopping center located at 385 Route 25A on Oct. 2 at about 11:40 a.m.

When the woman returned to her car, the man offered to help fix the tire. When the woman unlocked the car door, the man, without her knowledge, took her pocketbook containing cash and fled in a white SUV, police say.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers to submit an anonymous tip by calling 1-800-220-TIPS.
