"She will die if not caught and the container removed." A desperate search for a fawn near a Long Island beach.

ROCKY POINT, NY – Wildlife rescuers are desperately searching for a baby deer with a plastic container stuck over its head near a Long Island beach.

Save-A-Pet, a nonprofit animal rescue group, said Friday afternoon that it had received a call about a fawn with a large plastic container stuck on its head near High Cliff Beach off Hallock Lane in Rocky Point.

"This is a serious, life-threatening situation for this young deer," Save-A-Pet, which is based in Port Jefferson Station, wrote on its Facebook page.

"She will die if not caught and the container removed," Save-A-Pet said. "We do not know how long she has been without water or food, but is unlikely she will be able to go on much longer. We have volunteers and wildlife rescuers scouring the area in search for this poor deer, and our friend, Nick, who put up a drone yesterday is back out today, to help in the efforts to find and help this poor baby."
