Farewell Dave’s Grill — Hello Dave’s Gone Fishing

A Montauk hot spot has been given a makeover with a new name and location, but can you still get the dessert Gwyneth Paltrow called "epic"?

Montauk, NY — The owners of Dave’s Grill have moved across the lake to open Dave’s Gone Fishing.

Dave and Julie Marcley, the owners of Montauk’s beloved Dave’s Grill, have owned and operated the Grill for nearly 30 years reported eater.ny. After closing Dave’s Grill, the Marcleys recently moved the restaurant’s staff — and themselves— to their brand new location on Montauk Lake near Montauk’s Gone Fishing Marina to launch their new venue: Dave’s Gone Fishing.

They’ve relocated from the west side of Montauk Lake to 467 East Lake Drive—and there’s no doubt many of their regulars will be moving right along with them. Their legendary restaurant had a fierce following — patrons have been know to wait hours for tables—among their customers were celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Katie Lee, and The Affair’s Ruth Wilson, who often dined at Dave’s Grill while filming her TV series.

For those of us who love Dave's Original Cioppino from Dave's Grill and also for anyone who hasn't ever tasted it, there may be good news because when you log on to the Dave's Gone Fishing site posted on zagat.com, a menu is shown and the Cioppino is featured. It's described as “fresh fish, lobster, scallops, clams, shrimp, mussels and calamari, poached in a thick, rich fish and tomato reduction."

And we also hope that Dave's Grill's The Barbara dessert Gwyneth Paltrow raved about on her GOOP site — which is a brownie sundae she calls an "epic" treat — is still available.
