June 19 Deadline To Apply For Affordable Westchester 2-Family Home
The sale price of the renovated two-family house (two 1br/1 bath units) at 25 Monroe St. in Mount Vernon is estimated to be $336,000.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — A great deal on a new two-family home could be in the cards for those who qualify and have a little bit of good luck on their side.
The City of Mount Vernon and Allied Community Enterprises announced that there is a new chance for fair and affordable homeownership and applications are now being accepted. The Mount Vernon Urban Renewal Agency put aside home funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Community Development towards this project.
25 Monroe St. is a two-family house with two one-bedroom units, each with one bathroom. The house is completely renovated with new cabinets, new counters, new GE appliances, vinyl flooring, and walls freshly painted gray. The plumbing, heating, and electrics are all new, along with the baths and the kitchens.

The owner's unit is on the second floor, with an entrance through the front yard and front porch. This unit has a balcony off of the bedroom in the front of the house, along with several closets, a kitchen with a pantry, and a washer/dryer.
The renter's unit is on the first floor, with an entrance from the rear yard. It includes a handicapped-accessible shower.

The sale price of the house is estimated to be $336,000. Estimated monthly real estate taxes will be $740, while estimated monthly homeowner insurance will be $220.
The house is available to those with a minimum household income of $60,000 and below 80 percent of the average monthly income in the region. In order to qualify, a one-person household can have a maximum income of $82,250, a two-person household can have a maximum income of $94,000, and a three-person household can have a maximum income of $105,750.
The home is located on the south side of Mount Vernon, near the shopping districts of 4th Ave., Gramatan Ave, and the Food Bazaar market and drugstore.
25 Monroe St. is zoned to Edward William Elementary School and Benjamin Turner Middle School.
