Man Fatally Shot In Mount Vernon; Suspect Sought

MOUNT VERNON, NY — The Mount Vernon Police Department on Friday was searching for a person who shot and killed a man earlier this week.

According to police, the fatal shooting happened early Wednesday in the area of South 8th Avenue and West 2nd Street. The victim's identity was not been released.

"We mourn the senseless loss of life earlier today. Our condolences to his family," the police department said in a social media post. "We want to bring those responsible to justice."
