11-Year-Olds Injured Riding Wrong-Way Dirt Bike On Sunny Ridge Road

Neither was wearing a helmet, police said.

RAMAPO, NY — Ramapo police called to a crash with injuries on Sunny Ridge Road in New Hempstead Wednesday found two injured 11-year-olds in the road and the driver of a vehicle nearby.

Police said their preliminary investigation showed that the children were riding a dirt bike westbound on the wrong side of the road when they struck an approaching car head-on at about 3:22 p.m.

The two children were treated, then transported to Westchester Medical Center. Both children suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
