Clarkstown Police Help Nab Suspect On The Run From New Jersey

NANUET, NY — A suspect fleeing from police in New Jersey picked the wrong way to run, according to officials.

The Clarkstown Police Department says that on Saturday, around 7:50 p.m., they responded to a request for assistance from the Montvale Police Department (New Jersey), during a pursuit involving a vehicle connected to burglary suspects. Clarkstown police say the pursuit ended in Nanuet, in the area of Lake Nanuet Road and Pittsford Way.

Once on the scene, Montvale police officers reported that all three suspects fled the vehicle on foot. Clarkstown police officers then joined the search efforts, using their (UAV) Drone Unit and K9 teams.

27-year-old Jacob A. Ortega-Espinoza, with no fixed address, was captured soon after fleeing the vehicle. His charges include fugitive from justice, criminal mischief, and criminal trespass. Ortega-Espinoza is currently awaiting arraignment at Clarkstown police headquarters.

Police say that despite extensive search efforts with several local and state law enforcement agencies, the other two suspects remain at large. They are described as males in dark clothing.
